As regular listeners have no doubt noticed, the Brazilianisms Podcast has been on hiatus for nearly three months, and I do apologize. There are a few reasons for this. The main one is that my sound equipment has been giving me problems and needs to be replaced, but I can only do that (for a reasonable price) the next time I'm back in the US. In the meantime, Milton and I have been recording on an old audio recorder with a built-in mic. While our conversations are perfectly intelligible, I've been a bit ashamed of the inferior audio quality, and that caused me to lose some of my motivation to publish those episodes. Also three full episodes have been completely lost due to equipment problems. That also demoralized me. Finally, it's now clear that Milton doesn't have the time to record with enough frequency for this to remain a weekly podcast.
For all those reasons I suppose I ended up losing some of my enthusiasm and motivation. There was never a conscious decision on my part to stop the podcast, but I started procrastinating. (Bear in mind that it takes about eight hours of work to do a single episode.) So once again I apologize and would like to reassure everyone that Brazilianisms is not dead. Milton is still interested in recording, and I have several hours of recorded material to put out (albeit with inferior sound). There will be new episodes soon, so please remain subscribed. If you use the player on the site to listen, I suggest you fill in the e-mail form in the left column. That way, whenever anything new is posted to the site (like a new episode) you'll be informed instantly via e-mail.
