Mike

Well you look at that! (or listen actually) :) You guys talked about me for almost 6 minutes. I thank you for that and I am very happy to know that Romania is not that lost in this wonderful World we have.
I am waiting anxiously for the next episodes now that I know that they are recorded :D.
Take care and know that all your fans appreciate very much what you do to keep us informed and educated about all things related to Brazil.

Kinsey

Mike, thank you for your support, especially considering that this wasn't even a good episode. :)

Peter in Chicago

Peter here in Chicago, and I would like to put my two cents in.

Was the lady singing in Portuguese?

The lady was Rita Moreno and she was singing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The Kennedy Center was bestowing the Mark Twain prize on Bill Cosby.

I recognized the song she was singing was Brazil, and it was obvious that she wasn't singing in English. While the song is about Brazil, I couldn't tell if she was singing in Portuguese. Since she is Puerto Rican (She didn't just play a Puerto Rican in West Side Story.), I thought she might be singing Spanish lyrics. Kinsey and Milton confirmed that she wasn't singing in Portuguese.

About using the King James translation from the gospel of Luke, Kinsey explained the that archaic sound of the King James matched the archaic sound of the Portuguese lyrics. I still find the choice of the King James odd because I associated it with Protestant churches and Brazil is predominately Catholic. (According to the CIA World Factbook, the population of Brazil is 73.6% Roman Catholic (nominal).)

I'll listen to the episode again, and make notes about what they've said about my E-mails and post any comments I have later.

Kinsey

Peter, she was definitely singing in Spanish. Also, protestants may not be in the majority here, but they have churches are all over the place. :)

Peter

About the film Black Orpheus, its original Portuguese title is Orfeu Negro. Find out all about it here:

Kinsey, if you ever feel you're getting boring by going into too much detail on a feedback topic, just say "I'll follow up with him/her via E-mail."

Loren

The best unscripted comedy in podcasting!! = ) I love your show! Thank You! Uber informative and entertaining!

Kinsey

Peter, I actually tend to do the opposite. I give a brief answer to a comment or email and then follow up on the podcast in much more detail. :)

Loren, thanks! This episode was definitely unscripted. :)
